Amber Ties communicates the value of unity and human relationships in life.

Two groups of bronze-cast miniature figures stand upon the two geometrical blocks of hand-cast, hand-polished amber crystal glass. The size of the minuscule figures is heavily contrasted with the grandness of the glass structure that resembles glaciers and gemstones.

The contrast in scale grants viewers a greater sense of power as they look upon the miniature figures, but it ironically dwarfs the significance of the human ego. This serves as an honest, gentle reminder of how nature is so relentless and majestic in comparison to the fragility of human life. White mist suspended in the translucent liquid resembles the same magic and beauty of the northern lights. The work seems to suggest that there is something that transcends individuality, the same kind of magic that makes glaciers and amber gems, the relentlessness of the human spirit, it is the kind of love, kindness and compassion that outlives the Self.
